We’ve all got one. An anti-waste icon. A hero looking after the clothes that’ve still got a little life left in them.
Because when it comes to washing better and wasting less, airing is caring.
We’ve launched an investigation into the laundry habits of our nation. And it turns out, a lot of us are guilty of washing our clothes before they’re even dirty.
But holding off not only helps clothes last longer, it also uses less energy and less water. As well as sending fewer microplastics out into the world.
So wear your clothes over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over…*
*Except for your pants. Clean pants. Clean conscience.

Less washing = less bobbles. Check items need washing before chucking them in the laundry basket.
Messy job? Wear an apron when cooking, gardening, cleaning, pottery etc.
Protect your expensive items by hanging/folding them in garment bags.
Too much washing breaks down the fibres in your fabrics.
Do use a laundry bag to protect delicates and underwired bras in the machine.
Air dry clothes to prevent shrinking and friction in the tumble dryer.
… It’s time to reach for our powerful laundry capsules, they work wonders at 20 degrees, so no need to waste energy on a hotter wash. The double concentrated formulas are tested on 29-panic-inducing stains, like chocolate ice-cream and mustard. And talking of waste, our fragrances are made by upcycling rose petals and apricot that would otherwise end up in landfill. Optical brighteners? Animal by-products, dyes and phosphonates? Not our bag. Just thoughtful ingredients made with 75% bio-based materials*. Pretty neat.
*Based on ASTM D6866-22 Method B(AMS) TOC.
Upcycled rose petals and apricots have been used to create our two new laundry fragrances — Lilac & Rescued Rose and Almond & Rescued Apricot — giving a second life to materials that would otherwise be discarded. The rose petals come from the production of essential oil, but they can be distilled one more time to extract fragrance material. Apricot kernels are a by-product of the food industry and usually end up in land fill. The way we see it, waste isn’t waste unless you waste it.
A hot wash is so 2023. Our new clever laundry capsules, available in Bio and Non-Bio, are double concentrated formulas that fight tough stains even at 20°c. With 75% bio-based ingredients* they wrangle stains like chocolate ice-cream and mustard clean away. The cherry on top? Washing at 20°c instead of 40°c saves you 62% energy, as most of the energy used while doing a wash is in heating the water in your machine.
There’s no trickery in our capsules – we make ‘em without animal by-products, dyes, phosphonates and optical brighteners. Pretty neat.
*Based on ASTM D6866-22 Method B(AMS) TOC.
Since 1979 we’ve been rolling up our freshly laundered sleeves to make products that help you reduce your impact. We’re proud to announce that our laundry capsules are the very first Ecover products to be CarbonNeutral™ Certified by Climate Impact Partners.
There are quite a few differences.
1. Our 15ml liquid is one of the highest concentrated formulas you can find.
2. Our formula contains a minimum of 75% bio-based ingredients.
3. Unlike many popular brands we don’t use phosponates, dyes or optical brightners.
4. We’ve used upcycled fragrances to give a second life to material that would otherwise be discarded. Rose fragrance for BIO and apricot for NON-BIO.
5. We don’t use any animal by-products. That’s dirty.
6. We are Leaping Bunny appoved. Testing with humans, not animals.
Yes, both formulas are available. Bio Laundry capsules — Lilac & Rescued Rose fragrance. Non-Bio Laundry capsules — Almond & Rescued Apricot fragrance.
Concentrated formula means that the amount of active cleaning ingredients is higher than compared to regular, non concentrated, laundry liquids.
Yes, our capsules have been created to perform well on an eco wash setting.
Our laundry capsules need sufficient time to fully dissolve in order to ensure they can perform at their best. Therefore we do not recommend that you use our capsules on a short wash.
20 is plenty, as we say. Our capsules have been formulated to offer great cleaning power at lower tempertatures. Turning your machine from 40 to 20 degrees saves you money by using less energy. The most energy used in a wash is for heating up the water.
Our new laundry capsules have a double concentrated formula designed to wash clothing effectively, fighting everyday stains like chocolate ice cream and mustard. For some types of stubborn stains, like red wine, we recommend you use our pocket powerhouse – Ecover Stain Remover – and wash at a higher temperature.
It has a micro-thin plastic liner to keep moisture out of the box and ruining your capsules. Because that would be waste.
